My Summer Staff Experience: Ewa

Hello! My name is Ewa, I’m 20 years old and I’m from Łódź, Poland. I first heard about Black Diamond Camp through Camp America in 2022. Camp America is a program that allows people from all around the world to travel to the United States for the summer to work at a camp. I knew I wanted to visit the United States and after seeing Black Diamond Camp on their website, I knew I wanted to come and meet everyone!

This last summer, I was a camp counselor for Day Camp where I spent each day with a group of campers ages 5-12. I took them from place-to-place, facilitated activities, and led Bible studies with them. here were challenging days, fun days, and everything-in-between, and I learned so much throughout the summer. But the most rewarding part happened at the end of the week at Parent Experience, an event for parents to come with their campers to experience the fun their kid had during the week. I loved meeting the parents and hearing how much their campers loved their time at Black Diamond Camp.

I loved my time as a counselor but my favorite thing about Camp is the people! Throughout the summer, it was like we were all a family to each other. As a smaller staff, we were able to get to know everyone and make lasting friendships!

So, if you’re considering joining Summer Staff, DO IT! You will meet so many great people, learn so much, and have the best summer ever!
