Simply by Spending Time

“The council members were astonished as they witnessed the bold courage of Peter and John, especially when they discovered that they were just ordinary men who had never had religious training. Then they began to understand the effect Jesus had on them simply by spending time with him.” – Acts 4:13 (TPT)

I am struck by the last phrase: “Then they began to understand the effect Jesus had on them simply by spending time with him.” Am I spending time with Jesus in a way that profoundly impacts who I am? Peter and John, through the time they spent with Jesus, became courageous witnesses for Jesus Christ in the face of hostile religious leaders. Because of the time Peter and John spent with Jesus, they were vessels for the Holy Spirit to proclaim boldly salvation only comes through Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

How powerful is time with Jesus? When we spend time with Jesus, it can be witnessed by others. When we spend time with Jesus, even those who oppose us will come to understand the effect Jesus has on us simply by spending time with him. I pray today you would simply spend time with Jesus and allow him to radically transform your life.
