My Summer Staff Experience: Alyssa

Hi, my name is Alyssa! I’m 21 years old and from Black Diamond, Washington.

This summer, I served on Summer Staff, but more specifically, I served as a Counselor in Group Camp!

Each session of Group Camp, counselors are assigned to a youth group that we spend the whole session serving. We facilitate their activities, run Bible studies, and overall, just get to know those campers in an in-depth way.

I think one of my favorite things about this summer was watching campers break out of their shells and become comfortable with who they are. Whether that be by being silly during the dance party or having to step up and become a leader during group development. I love watching my campers grow!

If you’re considering applying for Summer Staff, just do it! There are so many ways to make a difference in the world and working at a summer camp like Black Diamond is one way that you can show love to and help others!
