Internship Program Highlight – Retreats

Through the Internship Program at Black Diamond Camp, young adults have an opportunity to assist, and shadow each department of Camp. One way they do this is through their service in the retreats department!

In addition to each of our summer programs, we run retreats year-round. As one of the Event Coordinators, I work closely with group leaders to help plan and host their retreats. But this could not be done without the help of our amazing Interns.

The Interns help make each retreat an unforgettable experience with the work they put into every event. From running activities, to cleaning each lodging space, along with meal clean-up, and always being willing to meet guests’ needs. The Black Diamond Interns are excited to learn and even more excited to serve guests. They stand out by helping curate a memorable adventure for groups, from check-in to check-out.

During the checkout process, the Event Coordinators meet with group leaders to go over the retreat as a whole and to share highlights. It is during this time that the Interns receive a ton of shout outs for their attention to detail, and their overall contributions to the groups’ visit. It’s a great learning process for them to continue to develop as Christian ministry professionals. The praise is often aimed towards the Interns that safely and joyfully facilitated activities such as the Zipline, Axe Throwing, 3D Climbing Wall, and more.

The retreats team is very grateful for each-and-every Intern for the work they do at Camp and for the opportunity to invest in their career and spiritual development.
