Meet the Team – Guest Services Director

Hello! I’m Kaelin Lara—dog mom to Maggie and Ollie, wife to JJ, amateur baker, thriller book enthusiast, and, most recently, the Guest Services Director here at Black Diamond Camp!

I grew up in Texas, and in 2013, while attending Camp Eagle as a camper, I had a life-changing encounter with the Lord. From that moment on, camping ministry has held a special place in my heart and has shaped who I am in so many ways!

In 2018, I took a huge leap of faith, moving from Texas to join the Internship Program at Black Diamond Camp. It was a scary but exciting transition, and looking back, I can see how God was working in every step of the journey. Camp has given me some of the sweetest and most transformative seasons of my adult life—moving across the country alone at just 18, meeting my amazing husband, creating lifelong friendships, and even having a COVID wedding in 2020 at the upper field here at Camp.

I fell in love with event coordinating in 2020, which deepened my love for camping ministry and strengthened my passion for our Internship Program. I had the pleasure of working with our interns for three years, and each one of them taught me so much about myself, leadership, and my faith. As this past summer was winding down, I felt the Lord nudging my heart, encouraging me to step up and grow in leadership and management. After months of prayer and discernment, I stepped into this new role, and I couldn’t be more excited!

Working in guest services, I have the privilege of witnessing Jesus in each of the guests we serve and seeing His heart in every group leader.

I look forward to building relationships with our guests, group leaders, and staff. This is a beautiful season of ministry, and I am so thankful to be part of it!
