Summer Staff Arrival is Almost Here!
We are so excited to kick off training and welcome our incredible Summer Staff team at Black Diamond Camp! This year’s crew includes hospitality staff, photographers, activities staff, program heads, Service Team leads, worship team members, and counselors for both Day Camp and Group Camp. Our team is made up of local Washingtonians, students from colleges across the country, and individuals from around the world!
Summer Staff will arrive on May 28th and serve through August. It’s such a gift to have these team members join us for the season. As they pour into our campers and guests, the year-round staff have the opportunity to pour into them.
Training begins with a special experience we call “Mock Week”—a chance for Summer Staff to experience Camp just like a camper! The full-time Summer Programs Team, Drew, Tyler, and JJ, serve as their counselors, leading them through high ropes adventures, Bible studies, and group development activities. This week helps build team unity and ensures counselors are fully equipped to guide campers through the Camp experience.
After Mock Week, the team dives into role-specific training. Depending on their positions, Summer Staff will learn everything from how to run activities and lead group development and Bible studies, to mastering hospitality and cleaning tasks.
When summer arrives, it transforms the atmosphere of Camp. Programs ramp up, retreat season gets busier, and more than 40 college-aged Summer Staff members bring new energy, excitement, and heart. Some of the fun traditions they’ll enjoy include a day trip to Seattle, quirky (but essential) national holidays like National Donut Day, hiking Mount Rainier, making s’mores, and so much more classic camp fun!
