Challenge and Growth

For the past three summers, I have had the incredible honor of serving as summer staff at Black Diamond Camp. This year, I am beyond excited to continue that journey as an intern! Over the years, I witnessed firsthand the incredible joy of how God moves through Camp. Not just in the quiet moments at Bible studies and evening experiences, but in the laughter and chaos of camp activities.

There is something deeply beautiful about watching the campers flourish not only relationally and emotionally, but spiritually. Whether it is encouraging a camper to take that leap of faith off the Mega Tree, cheering them on as they conquer their fear, or swimming in the pool with the Day Campers. Each moment becomes a building block in their growth. These activities are more than just fun – they are opportunities for transformation. You can see confidence grow, friendships deepen, and walls come down.

One of my favorite places to witness this growth is at Mountain Tops, where groups are challenged to work together. It is inspiring to see campers and leaders begin to value one another’s ideas, listen intentionally, and learn to lean on each other. The lessons they can learn from these activities are an amazing way to reflect on Christ and how He calls us to live.

What makes camp so special is every game, every climb, every laugh filled with purpose. These are the moments where seeds of faith are planted, watered, and begin to flourish. It is such a gift to be part of a place where kids don’t just have fun – they encounter the love of Jesus in a real and personal way. I’m so thankful to be on this journey, watching campers grow into who God has created them to be!
