More than a Summer Job

At Black Diamond Camp our mission is to inspire Christ-like change through outdoor adventure, authentic relationships, and biblical truth. During summer that mission comes to life through our incredible summer staff! Camp truly cannot run without them; they are the hands and feet of this ministry.

Our counselors work most directly with the campers, and the process of our mission is clearly seen through what they do. Counselors guide campers through outdoor activities which allows them to have fun and be challenged through experiences like our high ropes or group development activities. As counselors support and encourage campers through these challenges, they build trust and authentic relationships. These relationships create a safe place where campers can be seen, heard, vulnerable, and valued. This leads right into Biblical truth! Counselors share about a God who loves them for who they are and is relentlessly pursuing them and inviting them into His family.

Alongside our counselors are our ever-essential support staff! While the counselors are with campers, support staff make everything else around camp possible. From cooking and cleaning to activities and media, these staff work behind the scenes to ensure camp runs smoothly. Their work impacts every person on camp and helps make the campers’ journey through our mission possible.

Serving on summer staff requires giving 100% of yourself, which as difficult as it is, creates a space for staff to grow in their faith as they become even more dependent on God. They become more open to what God is doing not only in campers’ lives, but in their own. Through this shared experience, staff form deep bonds, lifelong friendships, and genuine community.

We are so incredibly grateful for our summer staff across all campuses, their dedication and hard work creates a lasting impact for the Kingdom of God.
