Copper Mountain Project Update

Copper Mountain is our dorm-style lodge here at Black Diamond Camp. For nearly five decades, it has served as a place of ministry, gathering, pranks, Bible studies, and worship. The ministry that happens within Copper Mountain is truly beautiful—though not without its challenges.

Phase 1:

We kicked off Phase 1 of the Copper Mountain Project by replacing the leaking roof over the meeting space, ensuring the building is safe and dry for future improvements. The second portion of Phase 1 will bring updates to the meeting space, including new windows, doors, lighting, storage, HVAC, a coffee bar, and upgraded A/V equipment—transforming it into a warm, inviting place for groups to gather and worship.

Phase 2: Elevating the Guest Experience

Phase 2 will address the top concern in guest surveys: the bathrooms. If you’ve showered in a dorm-style building from the 70s or 80s recently, you know it can be a character-building experience at best. The current bathrooms are cramped, outdated, and lack space to change or dry off comfortably.

We’re partnering with an architect to completely renovate the bathrooms. Plans include expanding into one of the dorm rooms, redistributing beds into the remaining five rooms in each quad, increasing the number of toilets and showers, and creating accessible spaces for campers with ADA needs. While we’re at it, we’ll also replace the roofs on all dorms, update the carpet, install new windows, and paint—creating a space where campers feel safe, clean, and cared for.

Addressing these facility challenges helps us keep the path clear to the cross. We want campers to go home overflowing with stories—about the songs everyone was singing in the bathroom before bed, the games they played, the time they prayed for a homesick camper, the mega-bed Bible study they had with all their sleeping bags on the floor, and even that weird smell coming from their sleeping bag after chili night.

Join Us in Prayer and Vision

As you consider this project, we invite you to pray with us—and dream with us. Pray our campers and guests would see this renovation as an invitation to deepen their connection with Black Diamond Camp. Dream about what would have made your own camp experience more meaningful. Dream about what your child would be excited to see improved. Pray the Lord would raise up donors to offer professional services and gifts-in-kind. Dream about the ministry that the Lord will continue to do through this space.

The Copper Mountain Project is vital to elevating this ministry asset so we can continue offering Christ-centered hospitality to campers for decades to come.
