Internship Program Highlight – Recruiting

Through the Internship Program at Black Diamond Camp, young adults have an opportunity to assist, and shadow each department of Camp. One way they do this is through recruiting trips! During the non-summer months, we hit the road and visit tons of colleges and young adult groups to recruit Summer Staff. It’s always great having them come on these trips. It’s amazing to see their ability to connect with the college students in ways I wouldn’t think of. This year, ...

At the Feet of Jesus

At the Home of Martha and Mary“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do ...

Jumping Into Abundance

At camp, my favorite activity is definitely the zipline. I love running the zipline, especially when I get to facilitate the crow’s nest. The crow’s nest position means you are at the top of the tree and are the person who is responsible for getting people safely attached to the zipline, talking them through the process, and providing the support needed for them to zip down. The crow’s nest sits at about 35 feet up and it’s amazing up there! ...

A Joyful Experience

As part of the Black Diamond Camp Internship, I have the privilege of helping prepare and put on The Lights of Christmas at Warm Beach Camp in Stanwood, Washington. I enjoy preparing for The Lights of Christmas because I get to help create an experience for people to make fun memories with friends and family. Serving the community this way brings me happiness as I get to see smiles on the faces of people who come and experience it all. ...

Love is Patient

Everything around us moves so quickly, especially now with the Christmas season in full swing. The holiday season can test our patience, at the grocery store, on the road, even at home with our family. We want our packages to be delivered on time and we want everything to be perfect. Why is it we let ourselves become so frustrated and angry during this season of love and giving? Paul gives us some great insight in the book of Romans ...

My Summer Staff Experience: Mya

My name is Mya Slakey and I worked as Activities Staff at Black Diamond Camp in 2019! Give Thanks

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords. His love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1-3   His love endures forever. God’s enduring, steadfast, never ending, all consuming, tender, gracious, lavish love endures forever! His love endures forever. Give thanks! The Psalmist goes on to express all the amazing ways that God was with the people of Israel through ...

A Leap of Faith

Adrian came to Camp as part of a guest group at Black Diamond. He was recognized for his outstanding participation in the virtue and wisdom courses during the retreat. The camp staff observed almost immediately that Adrian paid more attention during the virtue and wisdom seminars than any of the other boys. His questions about faith were well thought out. Adrian made friends right away and approached each activity with great enthusiasm. One activity was a bit of a challenge ...
